About Me
I am originally from Kenya, where I have built my career as a nutrition lecturer and researcher. I have a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics, a Master of Science in Human Nutrition, and a Higher Diploma in Medical Education. My MSc research focused on the dietary practices of patients with hypertension, which deepened my interest in the role of nutrition in preventing and managing chronic diseases. My broader research interests are mainly in clinical nutrition. Outside of work, I enjoy reading, cooking, swimming, and exploring new places.

Why I Chose the Nutritional Sciences Program at the University of Arizona
I chose the Nutritional Sciences PhD program at the University of Arizona because of its strong reputation in research and its collaborative learning environment. I was particularly fascinated by the opportunity to work with faculty whose research aligns with my interest in chronic kidney disease. The program offers an ideal environment to build on my previous research experience and contribute to finding nutrition solutions for chronic diseases. I look forward to developing my research skills, contributing to meaningful projects, and gaining the experience needed to become an independent researcher and educator. My long-term goal is to strengthen nutrition research and education in low-resource settings while contributing to solutions for the growing burden of noncommunicable diseases.
