About the Ph.D. and M.S. in Nutritional Sciences
The Nutritional Sciences Graduate Program (NSGP) in the School of Nutritional Sciences and Wellness (NSW) is designed for individuals interested in pursuing a master's (M.S.) or doctoral (Ph.D.) degree in nutritional sciences research on the main campus of the University of Arizona in Tucson.
Both the M.S. and Ph.D. options offer rigorous and innovative interdisciplinary research opportunities designed to engage and challenge students.
In addition to the NSW signature research areas, NSGP faculty are connected to myriad disciplines across campus, including but not limited to animal sciences, cellular and molecular biology, genetics, immunology, medicine, nursing, pharmacy, and public health.
The NSW research goal is to advance the science that provides foundational understanding of human nutrition and physical activity and its effects on health, disease, wellness, physiology, and human performance across the lifespan. To improve health and quality of life, there is no one-size-fits-all solution; faculty emphasize precision nutrition and wellness approaches to meet the specific needs of individuals and at-risk communities.
