Grace Amaning-Kwarteng
About Me:
I am Grace Amaning-Kwarteng, an amazing individual originally from Takoradi, Ghana. I embarked on this wonderful journey to the United States in 2025 to pursue my graduate studies. My academic path began with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition and Food Science from the University of Ghana. After graduating, I worked in a clinical research firm, where I studied the impact of diet on drug metabolism and metabolic health, and also worked as a nutritionist. I have always been curious about how food can be used to prevent and manage chronic diseases. I returned to school to pursue my master’s degree, with research interests focusing on addressing the rise of chronic diseases linked to poor nutrition and limited food access. I hope to contribute research that makes healthy eating more accessible and improves global health outcomes. Beyond academics, I enjoy writing, cooking, meeting new people, and dancing.
Why did you choose the Nutritional Sciences Graduate Program at the University of Arizona?
I chose this program because of its strong alignment with my research goals, particularly with Dr. Sridevi Krishnan’s work on precision nutrition and human variability in dietary response. I am super excited to be part of her lab. Also, the members of the NSGP are very supportive. Additionally, I was also drawn to Arizona’s welcoming community and warm climate, which remind me of my home country, Ghana.
